Two days later, on May 30, her absence was officially reported, marking the beginning of a painstaking search for the missing student.

Kandula is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds, with black hair and black eyes. It is believed she may have been driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla, though the color of the vehicle is unknown.

Seeking Public Assistance

The California State University, San Bernardino Police, in collaboration with the LAPD, have reached out to the public for any information that could aid in finding Nitheesha. On Sunday, John Guttierez, Chief of Police at CSUSB, posted on X:

“#MissingPersonAlert: California State University, San Bernardino Police, along with our partners in #LAPD, is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of @CSUSBNews Nitheesha Kandula to contact us at: (909) 537-5165,” according to the police.

Kandula, originally from Hyderabad, India, is among several Indian students at Cal State University, San Bernardino, who annually study abroad to obtain better academic and career opportunities. Her family and friends are devastated by her sudden absence and have turned to social media for help.

The Indian Consulate in San Francisco has notified local authorities and offered cooperation to speed up the investigation. They have also urged Indian residents in the area to be cautious and report any unusual activity or information that might help locate Kandula.
